Guard Your Tongue

Proverbs 21: 23 (NIV)

Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity.

It is wise to stay out of trouble, if you intend on doing God’s will for your life. Keeping our mouths from saying things that are hurtful, disrespectful, demeaning, and (yes) nasty toward others is not Christ-like. Being watchful over what comes out of our mouth can make our lives more pleasant and an enjoyable one.

My life will have less conflict and anger, if I keep this scripture in my heart. Growing up we have heard our elders tell us to “Think before you speak,” this will keep trouble away. I know, sometimes this is difficult to do but with practice watching what comes out of our mouths can change our lives for the better.

I pray, Lord, that with your help I can speak positive things and keep trouble far away. I pray that my life will be a blessing for others. I ask you to guide my footsteps in the path of righteousness. For Thy will be done. Amen.
